Synergia Northwest 2013 Kicks Off Banner Year with "Music Lessons Matter"

"Synergia Northwest's 2013 "Music Lessons Matter" Campaign,  brought to the cause over $56,000 for the after school music programs."

Synergia Northwest's 2013 event "Music Lessons Matter" held on May 18, 2013 at the Moore Theatre proved to be a tremendous boost for free after-school music programs for elementary school students. This year, the production company expanded its reach through Seattle Music Partners who provide a free after-school music program for underserved elementary school students in Seattle’s Central District.  Synergia Northwest's 2013 "Music Lessons Matter" Campaign, culminating with the May 18th concert, brought to the cause over $56,000 for the after school music programs, a record fundraising feat for the organization.

"These after-school programs are incredibly crucial in our community. There are countless agencies that do this noble work that go unseen, but they are there, everyday, focusing on our kids. The fact that our production company can leverage incredible talent and enlist key businesses here in the Northwest to give these organizations a voice, proves that there is interest in giving music opportunities to kids regardless of income level; it is important to us" said Executive Producer and Music Director Michael McMorrow

Seattle musician McMorrow, has hinted at a Fall project similar to the Spring concert and only adds that it will be very intimate and unique. To be part of this event, he suggest keeping a close eye on Synergia Northwest's website and social media platforms for updates.

This year's concert featured the Synergia Northwest Orchestra alongside some of the Pacific Northwest's most high profile rock and pop recording artists and student musicians. The line up included Loud & Proud recording artists Walking Papers (Jeff Angell, Duff McKagan, Barrett Martin, Ben Anderson), blue-eyed soul sensation Mycle Wastman (2012 The Voice), legendary Santana drummer Michael Shrieve's Spellbinder, breaking Rock Neo-Soul singer Tess Henley, DJ Kaz featuring Shyan Selah, Vicious Puppies Crew and The Garfield High School Drum Line as well as special guests Selene Vigil-Wilk (7 Year Bitch), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Shawn Smith (BRAD), Brendan Hill (Blues Traveler), Justin S. Davis (Strong Suit, Star Anna & The Laughing Dogs), and Seattle student and guitar prodigy Caspian Coberly. Seattle's beloved Northwest radio personalities Marty Riemer and Jodi Brothers emceed the event. Among the highlights of the night was a sizzling collaborative tribute to the music of The Rolling Stones led by Michael McMorrow.

Bartell Drugs was the Title Sponsor of the concert; BECU was the Supporting Sponsor; and Uber offered a special tie-in promotion for the event. Participants with on-site displays included Seattle Music Partners, Yamaha, Washington Music Educators Association, Grammy U and Central Washington University.  It also marked the first year that Synergia Northwest joined with The Melodic Caring Project, an organization that combines music and technology to stream live concerts to hospitalized kids and teens.

The efforts of Synergia Northwest events in previous years helped Music Aid Northwest in bringing its "Music Matters" license plate fundraising proposal to fruition by raising capital needed to create a music-themed license plate that helps support school music programs through its sales. Music Matters license plates can now be purchased through any Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) office.

Synergia Northwest blends classical, contemporary, professional and student musicians into one evening of performances that unifies cultures and musical genres. The caliber of these artists, along with a world-class conductor and orchestra has promised an evening of unforgettable musical moments that have left audiences knowing they've just experienced a magical event.
